RYA Start Powerboating (level 1)

8 hrs

The course

A formal course to allow you to safely learn the basics of driving a powerboat. The course takes between 6 and 8 hours, depending on the number of attendees and enables candidates to drive powerboats under supervision.

Teaching method

Using a small but powerful RHIB we will take you through low speed handling manoeuvres and practice coming alongside, tying up and mooring for an extended period. A short high-speed lesson will allow students and boat-owners alike to be confident of moving at higher speeds

Course and session timing

Course duration is 8 hours and is best run in one day (with a break for lunch).

Pre-course experience

A great course for family members needing to be safe in a powerboat and for juniors looking to progress to Level 2 when older

Courses can be booked by contacting the ESS office by email, phone or enquiry form on the website (a button on this page will pop-up a booking form, another button is a general info form)
