Normally students have already attained the skills of a Better Sailing course (Level 3) and gained some general experience and practice in a dinghy

- Hull, foil and spar performance
- Mast rake, bend and blocks
- Cunningham, kicker outhauls and other controls
- Sail setting and physics
- Use of tell-tales>/li>
- Sail fine- trimming
- Main block and jib blocks positioning and effect
- Wind shifts, wind bends and VMG
- Tidal effects including lee-bowing
