RYA Better Sailing (Catamaran)

2 days

The course

Learn better sailing techniques to improve your confidence and safety in more conditions and types of boat.

Teaching method

Better Sailing (Level 3) will involve more independent sailing in single-handers or with another course member. An instructor will be on the water with you, in a powerboat or in another single-hander.

Course and session timing

Course duration: 2 days in total (can be run as 4 half-days). Usual lesson time is 3 to 4 hours mixed between sailing and theory to prepare you for the next exercise. Some of your time will be rigging (preparing the boat) and de-rigging) at the end of the lesson. To ensure maximum learning time, you should come prepared to sail and change before your course starts if possible.

Pre-course experience

A 2-day dinghy course for those confident in sailing dinghies and usually following on from achieving Basic Skills (Level 2). Start Sailing is the first course in the RYA progression for adults or older juniors (usually 14+) who have not sailed before.
