ESS Introduction to powerboating

6 hrs

The course

Our own 6-hour course learning how to manage a powerboat. We use a small but powerful 4.7m RIB so you can experience planing as well as learn careful, safe manoeuvering. Perfect for VDWS instructors.

Teaching method

Using a small but powerful RHIB we will take you through low speed handling manoeuvres and practice coming alongside, tying up and mooring for an extended period. A short high-speed lesson will allow students and boat-owners alike to be confident of moving at higher speeds. This course has a limited theory content to allow for the majority of the time for practical exercises.

Course and session timing

Course duration is 6 hours and is best run in one day (with a break for lunch).

Pre-course experience

A fun course suiting all and requiring no previous experience. The course is also useful for VDWS watersports instructors and assistants requiring powerboat training.

How to book

Courses can be booked by contacting the ESS office by email, phone or enquiry form on the website (a button on this page will pop-up a booking form, another button is a general info form)
