ESS Start WASZP Foiling

10 hrs

The course

Learn to fly a foiling WASZP! A full 10-hour course for experienced sailors to enter the world of foiling dinghies. Join the flocks of single-handed foiling boats on the lake and appreciate the differences between all foiling boats and those with conventional displacement hulls.

Teaching method

The lessons begin with a short theoretical part on land and then proceed in the water with the practical part, with the assistance of the instructors who follow the development of the students step-by-step. On the water, the instructor follows the student with a powerboat and teaches with the help of radio helmets. The course has a maximum of two students on the water at the same time.

Course and session timing

Course duration: 10 hours in sessions of 1 hour. The time required to prepare the boat and for launching and returning is included in the lesson time. It is always possible to extend the course by purchasing additional lesson packages.

Pre-course experience

Minimum requirements: advanced knowledge of the sailing a small dinghy. Students with no dinghy experience should look first at the VDWS “Zero to Hero” course. NB: EXPERIENCE IN YACHTS OR CATAMARANS ALONE IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE FOILING WASZP.

At any time in the duration of this course the instructor can summarily interrupt the lesson if any of the following occurs:
1) Increase in the strength of the wind
2) The arrival of wave conditions unsuitable for foiling
3) Insufficient sailing capabilities evidenced by the student
4) Excessive physical strain evident in the students comportment, symptomized by tiredness or shortness of breath.
If the lesson is terminated for points 1) and 2) the remaining part of the lesson will be rescheduled for another day.
If the lesson is terminated for points 3) and 4) the remaining part of the lesson will be rescheduled for another day on the Laser Foilsz.
