It combines RYA Basic Skills (Level 2) with RYA Better Sailing (Level 3) and so requires experience equivalent to RYA Start Sailing (Level 1) before beginning this course. The course covers safety, launching, returning and sailing upwind and downwind on all points of sailing, in light and strong winds as well as different methods of recovery from a capsize.

Learn to set and use a gennaker and experience the thrills of racing speeds in a small dinghy, catamaran or keelboat. It’s an advanced course, over two days, covering launching, recovery and performance of spinnakers and gennakers, delivered by an advanced instructor and should involve different boat types. Students should already have the skills of a Level 3 adult course in the vessel they want to use for this course (dinghy, catamaran, keelboat).

The Performance Sailing Course is about understanding the forces on your boat; how to use them in light winds and neutralise them in strong winds. The emphasis in on coaching to improve your sailing and will involve coaching from a powerboat. This course is intended primarily for crewed, spinnaker boats.

Everything gets sprayed but please remember that masks must be worn if you are near to other people and at all times in the vicinity of our office.

Timing
To ensure the best use of your time and ours, please check-in 15 minutes before your course start (30 minutes on the first day of a multi session course)
