A 10-hour ESS course to learn to fly the Laser fitted with a FOILZ kit developed by Andrew McDougal, designer of the WASZP. The base course uses the foiling Laser throughout and students must have experience of sailing a single-hander dinghy before starting the course. Those with no experience of dinghy sailing should look first at the VDWS „Zero to Hero“ course.

The course
Teaching method
The course uses a foiling WASZP configured to suit the student (sail size, wings) and an instructor demonstrates techniques on the water as well as following in a powerboat to coach using the radio helmet. the lessons begin with a short theoretical part on land and then proceed in the water with the practical part, with the assistance of the instructors who follow the evolution of the students step by step. There will usually be two students per course, simultaneously on the water.
Course and session timing
Overall course duration of 10 hours consisting of individual sessions of 1 hours each. The time needed to prepare the boat and to launch are included in the lesson time. Students who need more hours to fly, can extend the course by purchasing additional lesson packages.
Pre-course experience
Minimum requirements: Advanced knowledge of the dinghy sailing technique. Those with no experience of dinghy sailing should look first at the VDWS „Zero to Hero“ course. NB: EXPERIENCE IN ONLY YACHT OR CATAMARAN IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE LASER FOILZ COURSES.

Safety equipment for the course includes a buoyancy aid and radio helmet. A wetsuit can be provided but bring your own footwear.
